Powerful Solar Charger for iPod, iPhone, Droid, HTC, Samsung, Blackberry, and most all small electronic gadgets including GPSs, eReaders, USB batteries and even portable gaming devices. It even charges the iPad in good sunny weather.

This is not an ordinary small solar charger. These use high efficiency solar cells like the ones used in industrial grade solar systems. The solar cells in the sCharger-5 charger really packs a punch! See if any other small solar charger can match the same solar energy output in such a small package.

Other solar chargers use a small solar panel to trickle charge an internal battery, which takes forever! Their solar panels are too weak charge your device directly. So they charge your device from an internal battery instead. When the internal battery fails(which it inevitably will, since it’s being baked in the sun constantly), you have to throw the whole thing away. Our sCharger-5 solar charger will not only charge your device, it will run it directly from the sun. And it will last for years.

Use the sCharger-5 solar charger to charge your handhelds while camping, picniking, at the beach, by the pool, or ball games. Use it to solar charge your devices when there is no other power available. Take it hiking with you to charge that GPS device
Use it for emergency power and disaster power relief. Most of the time cell phones still work when there is no electricity. Be the only one with a fully charged phone!
No power no problem.
Loose your wall charger? Why not start charging from solar?

Amazing product/ Worked on the Airplane for new Ipod Nano, March 30, 2011

I bought this product on Amazon. I tested it for the first time on my flight to Las Vegas 3/14/2011. It charged my entire ipod Nano from the airplane window in about 2 hours. My Nano is the lastest model, and had no problem recognizing the charger. The green indicator light on the charger shows the panels are charging immediately. It worked really well to have the pannels open and right up against the window, I then realized I could close the airplane window shade half way which kept it in place hands free, worked perfectly. Another great thing about this charger is the size and weight, it’s the size of a traditional CD case, and when you open it it’s the size of an open CD case. The product is pretty amazing, it feels really amazing to have that type of power without batteries. It’s basically a one time investiment that will pay for itself in battery use and power use. I’m really impressed and will be using this for my honeymoon to Greece in June.

I found this product Online, spoke to the owner of the company and immediately ordered mine! The PC-5 is worth every penny and then some! I am a hugh solar advocate and have many other solar chargers in my arsenal. Because of the speed at which this charges from the sun, I now use it to charge other solar chargers because they see the PC-5 more as a USB wall charger than a solar charger. This means these other chargers will be ready for use faster than they charging themselves! That is amazing!! I have used it to charge my phones, iPods, and even my iPad. As time marches on, I am sure that more applications will present themselves. I will conduct a race between the PC-5 and Voltaicsystem’s Amp Solar Charger to see which one charges my Solio hybrid Solar Chargers faster just out of curiosity. I love both the PC-5 and the Amp Solar Charger and have already strongly recommended them to friends and family!

    Charges iPod, July 18, 2011

Charges an iPod in full sunlight no problem using the iPod’s USB adapter. It’s compact, solid, made in USA. Very nice for the current technology. It’s seemed a little pricey at first, but I’m happy I have it — I can’t very well carry around my 12″ x 15″ solar panel in a backpack or the car. It fits comfortably into a Case Logic BNW-48 Polyester CD/DVD Wallet, which gives an exact amount of leftover space for an iPod, earbuds, USB adapter, and some slim extras (note: I removed the cd-pockets using an exacto knife).

I purchased this item last week so that I would be able to use my smart phone on a business trip. While the device did fulfill that function, I am fairly disappointed with the results. First, I should mention that I did not test the solar charging capability, so I am not going to even comment on that capability. As for the USB charge function, that seems to work adequately, and charge the unit up completely within a couple hours. However, when discharging (to charge another device) the indicator lights on the unit are almost useless. There are three lights that are supposed to indicate <30% charge (one light), 30-70% charge (two lights), or 70-100% charge (theee lights). In practice, however, the unit only displays three lights for about a minute, two lights for another five, and then for the next hour it displays a single light.

My next issue with this device is that it is deceptively labeled as having 4440 mWh (miliwatt-hours) capacity. While this may be technically correct, the standard convention is to label batteries in mAh (miliamp hours), which would be about one fifth the value as represented in mWh, on a 5V device. The result? A device that has under 900 mAh is being sold with a number on the box that, while technically correct, is meant only to confuse the consumer. And I will be the first to admit it: I was confused, and bought the item thinking it had 4440 mAh. As a result, this device is only capable of charging my 1500mAh cell phone battery up about half-way.

I am going to return this item and replace it with a device that has a much larger capacity, and I think I’ll skip the solar charge function. While I’m sure it would be nice on a camping trip, a larger capacity device that could charge my phone all the way up four or five times should be fine.

Nice, reliable and compact little battery charger but please note the power rating of the battery.

It claims it has a 4440 mWh battery which is correct. However, batteries are normally rated in mAh which you can find by dividing the watt rating (4440 mWh) by the voltage (3.7) and you get a result of 1200 mAh. This is often done by manufacturers to deceive consumers into thinking that they are getting a more powerful battery than what they really are.

Took this on a train/bus/camper trip through Europe. This unit was indispensable as I sometimes went 2-3 days without access to line power. Charges quickly through USB port and holds enough juice to bring a near-dead smart phone back to 30% or so. I had low expectations for the solar cell but in bright sunlight it actually produced a measurable amount of juice — enough for a few brief calls or text messages. One minor problem — lacks a micro USB tip so make sure to pack your own cable.
